Not sure about everyones feelings on this but how about helicopter tours for the islands(Cayman and Jamaica)? Wouldn't be realistic as to Cayman Airways but we do have Cayman Helicopter. Just a thought :)

It would be kind of difficult to log.

It could be the same as CAY4423 in a way...?

Yes, but it has a route. It has a destination. If we did helicopter tours who's to say how long one could circle the island accumulating hours?

I think the helecopter is a good idea but as for the routes for it it doest really need a route beacuse it's a tour helecopter it should be taking of from let's say airport(A) and lands back at airport(A) im not sure if VAFS allows it beacuse I don't think VAFS has hlecopters as an aircraft type on their list if it's allowable it's a superb plan great for sight seeing the Islands and taking screen shots lol!....so lets se what the CEO and CO-CEO has to say about it.

you can depart airport(A) and land at airport(A) but vafs just doesnt have helicopters

What fleet information is that Floyd? KAFLY?

For everyone's information, VAFS does have helicopters, for example the Eurocopter AS365 is in the list. Although this isn't the Eurocopter AS350 that Cayman Islands Helicopters uses, we could utilize it instead. We'll keep looking for a better alternative

Yes it's KAFLY.

Would be nice to do for fun but as it says above, it would be hard to log as you go from MWCR-MWCR. (Although I have been in Little Cayman when it has come over)

There is not much to see for a sigtseeing tour in FSX/FS9 either because apparently Grand Cayman has vast corn fields and cities according to FSX, I suppose if FlyTampa did a Cayman Islands set following on from the Dutch Antilles then, wow that would be cool!

We had a flight at one stage from MWCB-MWCB in the twin otter for training purposes and VAFS didn't seem to mind that too much, and it does, as stated support helos, so it could potentially be something to look into for that variation factor.

Ya I got one:

G R A V E D I G G E R ! ! ! ! ! !

but seriously, this is a good idea, maybe I can work on a paint for the bell 430.

HELICOPTERS???

I am still waiting for cool James Bond texture on freeware 733s.

And this VA needs cargo planes MORE than helicopters.

If anybody wants helicopters, that means we pilots will have to pay FOR EXPENSIVE payware scenery to enjoy ground view while flying helicopters.

Tourists do not fly to Grand Cayman to take helicopter rides. They go to Caribbean to SWIM!!!

Aharon

Yes they do actually, they fly over our houses thinking 'Hmmm, I like that one, $10M?' I'm actually not very good at helicopter flying, you can't go upside down I just found out!
Maybe we could get a paint done of the Hovercontrol (free) 412 or the default Bell in the colours of VP-CIH, Cayman's only helicopter.

Ya you can even do barrel rolls. I've seen an Apache do it, on discovery channel

I think a Helicopter is a great idea especially with REX...you can host sessions on multiplayer with the shared aircraft option and go sight seeing...eventhough you dont have FSX you can still share aircraft is FS9 with the gates.to program.

here we go, I thought I'd do a repaint in order for us to get an idea of what a helicopter could look like, if we wanted one.

Very nice! What sort of helicopter is that, and more importantly, can it do a barrel roll? :)

What are the wierd Unicorn-like spikes on the front for? Radar?

First it is a Bell 430 ( a later variant of the Bell 222, which if you seen the 80's tv show AIRWOLF, then you know its a sweet heli). Yes it can do barrel rolls (quite easily actually). And the spikes are actually wire cutters- telephone lines no longer pose a threat to heli's.
