It says it in the title, do you just have default traffic, have you customised your own or have you paid for it?
I use project AI which is excellent, but I have customised the Cayman Airways traffic with flightplans from Avsim. The only problem I have is that the FPS take a large hit and I am always on 60% traffic. How does AI traffic affect your FPS?

The quality of the models used for AI will impact your frames to varying degrees. World Of AI is good for decent models. I use custom AI.

My fps are quite fine with ai traffic, probably because of the pc i use.... to me it matters what computer you use and what amount of traffic you use

Well of course. Simply mathmatics could tell you that

Lots of traffic+Slow system= Horrible FPS

Minimal Traffic+Slow system= Mediocre FPS

High Traffic+High end system= Good frames.

You just need to see what works for you. Presently I run everything maxed out, traffic and all with high frames, however, of course when you go to a busy airport your frames will experience a hit. This is why you need to look into frame-rate friendly models, they don't look the most realistic, but they are there to improve the atmospher, not for you too admire.

I love math :)

I've always wanted to know this, am I completely crazy if I'm running FSX on a laptop? It seems to me that anyoe running FS on a PC gets much better FPS, who uses a laptop and who uses a desktop for FSX/FS9/FS2002?

I don't use AI traffic. If I'm flying at all, it's on VATSIM.

Guy, I recommend making a new thread about that with a poll. Not everyone will see your question here.

It matters what kind of laptop you have :-) ..... the gaming laptops from Dell or the office laptops which you see everywhere :-)

Of course the higher end laptops will be able to cope far better then the lower spec models. Heck you can have laptops run FS just as smooth as any desktop.

I'd like to see a laptop compare with a QX9650 dual 9800GX2 rig.

I think the point Keith was trying to make was that *technically* you can put the same juice into a laptop as you can in a desktop.

However, laptops are simply not upgradeable. You're stuck with what you've got.
