Key West is the southernmost city of the continental United States. It’s also known to be one of the most tropical and exotic places in mainland America.

Key West International Airport covers an area of 255 acres (103 ha) which contains one asphalt paved runway (9/27) measuring 4,801 x 100 ft (1,463 x 30 m). For the year 2006, the airport had 94,408 aircraft operations—an average of 258 per day. This airport its today is known to be a challenging airport because of its runway, nonetheless normal daily operations with A319’s and B737’s. Its story behind the use of such aircraft remote to the 1980’s when boatloads of Cubans were reaching the shores of the Keys, the US border patrol setup roadblocks or areas on which they would search all cars leaving Key West, so to check if there where Cuban immigrants. Well, this was significantly disrupting commerce in Key West, most importantly tourism. That led to Monroe County (on which Key West is located) to symbolically secede from the United States, or so by tongue –cheek by declaring the Conch Republic, Eastern Airlines seized on that and started flights out of Miami on their B727-100's out of the short KEYW runway. It was the first time an airliner operated out of Key West.

Within this scenery we are capturing Key West’s magic, and essence, from an extremely realistic airport to the most important buildings and landmarks that make this place a very unique destination.

Wow! Fantastic job Ricardo and crew! LatinVFR's sceneries do nothing but improve. Amazing. I'll buy this after coming home from school.

Edit: My credit card was canceled. Someone must have gotten the numbers, because there was a $3700 charge on it.

Thank you all for the support, this scenery has been an overwhelming success. We are now considering more projects in Florida....

in the mean time, whilst our video artist is working on the official video, you can check this one out...

Greetings
Please can you tell me if this scenery is compatible with Ultimate Terrain USA for fs2004? I would like to buy it, but I don't wish to have problems with double coastlines further up towards Florida!
Many thanks
Best regards
James

In FSX and FS2004 we have excluded coastlines and other terrain elements that are not our scenery. So for sure you won't have issues, aside from the fact that it was beta tested by many people and everything went well.... hope it helps.

thanks!
Ricardo

Hey Ricardo

Gotta an interesting question. I do love the scenery and the textures done at Key West.

It would be great if someone was to make the Whole Keys as well! Its some fantastic area to do VFR flying! Perhaps something less detailed but more upgrades to the airports already there. It could be perhaps sold as a huge package, or 2-3 smaller ones!

I know its probably not the best market but it would be nice to see! Again I imagine its not on your to-do list either for a long time.... but just an idea!

Thank you William. We had thought on something like this long ago, and yes we would be inclined into doing it. We will see how to add that in a todo list. but definitely sounds like a great idea.

I couldn't purchase KEYW yet,but it's just a matter of time.
Sincerely i would love to see LatinVFR working on KMIA.
I know Intersim is doing it,but it's taking too long and we can't even be sure if they are going to finish the scenery.
And i know and trust the quality of LatinVFR's sceneries.

Never been there but your scenery looks awesome. The detail is very broad. Nice work!
